What does Wagering requirement mean in betting?

Also called: rollover, playthrough, wagering requirements

Definition

The amount you must bet before bonus money (and winnings from it) can be withdrawn, usually written as a multiple such as "3x" or "30x" the bonus.

Wagering requirements are the most important part of any bonus. A large bonus with a high requirement can be worth very little in practice. Check these details in the bonus terms:

  • The multiple (3x, 10x, 30x) and whether it applies to the bonus only or to the bonus plus your deposit.
  • Qualifying bets: many sports bonuses require minimum odds per selection (for example 1.50) and a minimum number of selections per bet.
  • Time limit: unmet requirements usually expire after a set number of days, and the bonus is removed.
  • Maximum winnings from the bonus.
  • What happens if you withdraw early: many bookmakers cancel the bonus and any bonus winnings.

Each time you re-bet the bonus, the bookmaker's margin applies again, so meeting a high requirement often uses up most of the bonus. Never deposit more than your budget just to unlock a bonus.
