What does Bet builder mean in betting?

Also called: same game multi, betbuilder

Definition

A bet that combines several selections from the same match, such as the result, total goals and both teams to score, into one bet priced by the bookmaker.

In a normal accumulator, each selection comes from a different match and the odds are simply multiplied. In a bet builder, the selections come from one match, so they are linked. If Arsenal win 2–1, "over 1.5 goals" and "GG" are also true. Because the outcomes are connected, the bookmaker does not multiply the separate odds; it calculates its own price for the combination.

That price usually includes a larger margin than a single bet, because several markets are combined. Bet builders can look attractive because the odds rise quickly, but every part must be correct.

Things to check before placing one:

  • how the bookmaker settles each part (for example, player markets if a player does not start);
  • whether cash out is available;
  • the payout shown on the slip, not just the odds.

Use bet builders, if at all, with small stakes, and read how bookmakers make money to understand why combined bets favour the bookmaker.
